Report: Miami police shoot naked man chewing on victim's face -
Time to remember every lesson ever learned from zombie movies, because this might be when it kicks off.
Personally, and I’ve never seen this in any zombie movie, book, game or TV show, I’d hit the local museum and grab a suit of armor. That’d be awful hard for a zombie to bite through. Also, I think gathering up survivors, hopping on a luxury cruise liner and just docking far enough offshore that zombies couldn’t get to you, but you could go back and forth for supplies as needed could work. You’d have all the luxuries of home (electricity, food, TVs, etc) and be safe. Anybody who somehow turns can just be dumped overboard.
Fox, NBCUniversal sue Dish over ad-skipping DVR service | Ars Technica -
“We were given no choice but to file suit against one of our largest distributors, Dish Network, because of their surprising move to market a product with the clear goal of violating copyrights and destroying the fundamental underpinnings of the broadcast television ecosystem,” the statement read.
How does anybody get copyright violations from skipping commercials? Nobody rational could ever make that sort of leap in logic. These idiots from the gigantic media corporations throw the word “copyright” around as a weapon. They’re like some sort of caveman with a gigantic club, trying to smash anything they don’t like and using “copyright” as a justification.
Leaked Memo: 'Community' Studio Tells Cast How to Address Dan Harmon Firing - Hollywood Reporter -
Typical corporate memo. It’d be amusing to see the cast robotically reciting the exact words of the memo whenever they’re asked about the situation.
Everything I read about Windows 8 further commits me to sticking with Windows 7. Now they’re dropping Aero.
So in the non-phone/tablet looking interface… no Start button and plain vanilla looking Windows. From the screenshot above 8 is starting to look like a throwback to Windows 3.1. Clearly they want people to drop the regular desktop, even if a tablet/phone interface isn’t very useful on a desktop or laptop. What brain damaged dolt at Microsoft thought any of this was a good idea?
It’s going to be the first-ever regularly scheduled three-hour program on television… —
Stephanie McMahon on WWE RAW moving to three hours on a regular basis
Clearly I come from a parallel universe from Vince’s little girl. In that universe WCW Nitro was three hours every week for years. And it was awful, and the WWE is about to make the same mistake.

Friday was a bad news about TV shows I watch day…
Dan Harmon out as COMMUNITY’s show-runner (even if season 3 had quite a few clunkers, still bad news).
Tim Vine leaves NOT GOING OUT. Leaving only one original cast member, but at least he’s the creator/writer of the show. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle this.
I’ve been reading that Comcast is (temporarily) getting rid of their bandwidth cap. That cap is currently at 250 gigs, and if you went over twice within a six month period they would cut off your internet service and not allow you to sign up for internet with them for a year.

Now, they’re going to lose the cap for a time and experiment with two different plans in test markets…
I sure hope I’m not in a test market and get the cap-free internet. It’d be nice if they’d list what these “test markets” are before people start downloading like crazy and then get hit with an extra $200 on their bill.
There’s good and bad to this. Increasing the cap at all is good, but just bumping it up a measly 20% from 250 to 300 gigs isn’t that much of an increase.
Overage charges at $10 for 50GB is pretty okay, but let’s say you hit 301GB, $50 for a single gig seems excessive. Still, an overage charge is a vast improvement over the “you went over the cap, no more internet for you” method they’ve been using.
Edit: Just wanted to add that I was thinking it over a bit, and the more cynical part of me thinks this whole, “no cap at all for awhile” is to get people used to going over 300 gigs regularly. Then more of their customers will hit those extra charges.
That commercial makes my teeth grind. And it airs constantly.

FIRST X-MEN is exactly what most fans speculated it would be. The X-Men with Wolverine before he joined the X-Men. This is what happens when talented people (Gage and Adams) come up with an idea that doesn’t work very well but nobody says “no”.
It really doesn’t make much sense in terms of continuity.
It would work if many of the characters Wolverine interacts with in this series weren’t still around and characters he regularly interacts with now. After all, Wolverine lost his memories, so he probably wouldn’t remember assembling a team of mutants. But several of those other mutants are around and would remember…
Xavier doesn’t seem to know Wolverine when he recruits him for the X-Men. (Yes, I’m aware of the stupid retcon of Logan and Charles being old war buddies that was introduced within the last decade or so.) On top of that, all the times Wolverine went to Chuck looking for help about finding out about his past, Xavier claimed to be in the dark. So now, we’ve got evil old Professor X hiding important information (again).
The idea that Wolverine thought of the X-Men before Charles Xavier, is just continuing the pissing on the character of Professor X that’s been going on over the last decade or so. (Goes with the revelation that he knew the Danger Room was alive and enslaved it, or that he sacrificed and then hid the existence of an entire team of X-Men between what used to be the originals and the “new” X-Men from Giant Size X-Men #1.)
Back to the issue of other people remembering what Wolverine might not have been able to. He’s fighting alongside Magneto. Wouldn’t Magneto recognize Wolverine? It’s hard to swallow that he wouldn’t have mentioned their earlier connection. Well, except of course it didn’t exist prior to this mini-series.
Then there’s Sabretooth being part of another team before the team existed. Specifically the other recent ridiculous retcon of there being an Avengers in the 1950’s before the (former) original Avengers (Iron Man, Wasp, Ant-Man, Hulk and Thor).
I wish Marvel would spend less time strip-mining old stories* and spend less time trying to insert unnecessary additions to the past with these “everything you knew is wrong” attempts at shocking the audience, and instead concentrate on telling interesting stories that are happening currently in the characters’ lives.
* Like John Byrne’s entire WEST COAST AVENGERS run serving as the catalyst for Avengers Disassmble, House Of M, and everything else leading up to the current Avengers Vs X-Men thing.
By this fall I’ll be watching far less TV. I don’t plan on giving many new shows a shot. Why bother? Most of them will be cancelled. I’m thinking of a new rule for myself regarding new shows, and that’s waiting until at least one season is complete before trying out the show.
But it’s not just new shows. Shows that I’ve been watching are on my personal chopping block. That brings to mind another rule for myself that I should obey. Watch the first season or two of a US show* and then prepare jump ship before it all turns to shit. (There are a few rare exceptions to this rule. Some of them are THE SHIELD, BREAKING BAD, SONS OF ANARCHY, and a select few others.) I’m going to call it the “Why am I still watching this?” rule. If at any point in the course of watching a show I start asking myself that question then I should just find something else to do with my time.
* Given shorter seasons, UK shows take longer to nosedive from goodness into awfulness.
After a terrible season and even worse finale, I’m finally done with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. I really liked the first two, maybe three seasons, and since then I’ve just been watching out of inertia. It’s time to bail out on that flaming wreck.

I’ve felt the same way about THE OFFICE since season 4. If I watch it this fall I deserve a hard slap across the face. PARKS AND RECREATION, which I hated the first season of, will probably be the only thing I watch on NBC on Thursdays.
COMMUNITY was one of my favorite shows in seasons 1 and 2. I feared an almost inevitable dip in quality, and season 3 certainly fulfilled that prophecy. There have been a few good episodes, but bad ones seem to outnumber them. The show seems to have buried it’s head up it’s own ass. Things like way too much “Dreamatorium” and the INSPECTOR SPACETIME gag went from being amusing once to overdone, and I find myself less and less interested. It’s just way too much pandering to the annoying portion of the fanbase that won’t stop saying “six seasons and a movie”. Given the Friday night death slot and shortened episode order, I figure I’ll stick with the show, if for no other reason than it probably doesn’t have much time left.
ALCATRAZ was awful, but aside from BONES, which I’m a sporadic viewer of, it was the only thing I was watching on Fox. So I’m done with that network. Oddly enough, many of the few remaining shows that I plan to keep watching are on their sister network, FX: SONS OF ANARCHY, IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, and THE LEAGUE.
ABC punted COUGAR TOWN, which was saved by TBS. I honestly thought the show would be awful based on the title, but it’s filled the SCRUBS shaped hole in my viewing heart. The only other show I watch on ABC is CASTLE. Let’s be honest about that one: I only really watch because Nathan Fillion is cool.
Everything else that I plan on watching is on cable or from the UK.
Mountain Dew Tie-In with The Dark Knight Rises Announced
I thought this was funny because Mt Dew Batman looks like he’s manically depressed.

PBS Cut 24 Minutes From Series 2 Of Sherlock To Make Room For Adverts -
This sort of thing, along with the ridiculous content censorship for language and occasional nude bits, is why I don’t watch my UK shows on BBC America (or in this case PBS). I “pirate” them in their uncut form and then buy the region 2 DVD* or Blu-ray when available.
* The region 2 discs of UK shows are almost always significantly less expensive even with international shipping than the region 1 US releases. Plus they come out much much faster.
